Lewis Alfred Vasquez Tenorio, more popularly known as LA Tenorio, is one of the most decorated basketball players in PBA history.
During his collegiate years, LA was already showcasing his brilliance on the court by proudly wearing the Ateneo Blue Eagles jersey in the UAAP.
Fast-forward to today, the 39-year-old point guard has been instrumental in helping his team Barangay Ginebra claim multiple championships.
In fact, according to the bgsm.ph, LA played his 700th consecutive game in the PBA on June 12, 2022 and made his 1,178th three-point field goal on December 10, 2022.
In 2023, the ‘Iron Man’ of PBA had to face the biggest battle of his life when he found out that he has stage 3 colon cancer.

He tied the knot with Chesca Bugia in December 2010. One of their children, Lucas Tenorio, seems to have inherited the basketball genes of his father.

LA became an eight-time PBA champion in January 2023, when the Gin Kings defeated the Bay Area Dragons in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Gilas Pilipinas
The seasoned basketball player also represented the country in other international tournaments as part of the Gilas Pilipinas line-up. In fact, he competed in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain as part of the national team.

Cancer diagnosis
LA admitted that being diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, Stage 3 colon cancer, in February 2023 was one of the “hardest periods” in his life.

Survivor
A few months passed and LA delivered big news to the delight of his supporters when he shared on September 20, 2023 that he is in remission.
“For those who were my prayer warriors, for those who showed me so much love and support, know that I am forever grateful to all of you,”
“My scan and last test results show no trace of cancer and that the treatment was effective. I am now in remission. Praise God.”

Asian Games
LA Tenorio also helped the Gilas Pilipinas squad led by Coach Tim Cone capture the elusive gold medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The assistant coach of the national team posted on his Instagram page, “Gold medal after 61years!! Always grateful and thankful for the opportunity to serve our country .”
